Karen
Tucker joined Spectrum Psychological Associates 3 years ago.
Prior to joining Spectrum, Karen had a long time affiliation
with Laurelwood Hospital and Counseling Centers where she proivded
both inpatient and outpatient services for over 16 years. She
is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Social
Work where she obtained both her undergraduate and graduate
degrees.
Karen specializes in the treatment of adolescents and young
adults struggling with mood and behavioral disorders, relationship
conflicts, family discord, trauma and identity issues. She is
an instructor and skills coach using the Dialectical Behavioral
Therapy model that focuses on reducing, eliminating and managing
self-harming/self-defeating urges and impulses.
Karen has a total of 25 years of experience working with chemically
dependent and dually diagnosed individuals, their parents and
family system. She is able to provide chemical dependency assessments
and parent guidance. Karen Tucker also provides therapy for
adult men and women who struggle with a history of mental illness,
grief/loss issues, trauma, or impaired relationships. She enjoys
the use of metaphors, empowerment strategies, humor and creative
imagery in her treatment of individuals and families. |
